Welcome to May, SJV Community!
Did you know that the month of May is also known as the Month of Mary in the Catholic Church? How fitting is it that we celebrate the Mother of our Lord (who is our Heavenly Mother as well) along with all mothers in the same month!? May gives us the opportunity to strengthen our
relationship with the Blessed Mother, who is waiting to help lead us to her son. Consider taking on a new form of prayer in union with the Blessed Mother this month. Some great suggestions are to pray the rosary, pray the seven sorrows of our Lady, to complete the First Saturday devotion to our Lady, or to begin wearing the miraculous medal (see page 2).
Ascension of Our Lord
...
After his resurrection, Jesus returns to his disciples and gives them the task of preaching his name to all of the nations. He promises that the Holy Spirit would be sent to them. After 40 days of being back among them, Jesus blessed his disciples and was taken up to heaven.
Let Us Pray:
Dear Lord Jesus Christ, before your Ascension into heaven, you told your apostles to be your witnesses to the ends of the earth upon receiving the Holy Spirit. May I be similarly inspired to spread your gospel message in word and deed, according to your will for me. Amen.
