Transitional Kindergarten & Kindergarten Programs
St. John Vianney offers a full-day transitional kindergarten (TK) and kindergarten program which allows our young students time to develop spiritually, academically, socially, and emotionally. Understanding that each child is a unique and special gift from God, our teachers and full-time instructional aides provide a safe, positive, nurturing, and fun environment where students grow, learn, and play each day. In our Christ-centered TK and K classrooms, students begin to develop their relationship with Christ through daily prayer and religion lessons, attending weekly Mass with their buddies, and participating in service projects throughout the year. Academically, students are provided with daily opportunities to meet and exceed, Common Core standards through developmentally appropriate ways including hands-on learning, small group instruction, and center-based learning. TK and K students are able to expand their learning with instruction from our specialized teachers in Art, Library, Music, and Physical Education.
TK students will have the opportunity to learn how a school day flows as they transition out of Early Childhood Education or time at home. The daily schedule for TK includes adequate structured learning time, group play, free time, inside and outdoor play, as well as snack and nap/resting. While the TK class curriculum is planned in advance, our staff know that some days ask for flexibility. Depending on the needs of students on a particular day, the classroom schedule has the ability to be adjusted. All TK students follow the school uniform policy.
