St. John Vianney Catholic School works with the parents in the faith formation of their children and continues the value development begun in the home. Acceptance to St. John Vianney Catholic School is a privilege, not a right. Parents have a right to apply to St. John Vianney Catholic School for admission of their child (ren), but the privilege of attending the school is contingent upon the parents’ acceptance of the school’s program of formation and instruction and their willingness to accept responsibility for their portion of the cost of education.
Admission of any student is at the sole discretion of the principal.
AGE for ADMISSION
Prospective students may meet with the grade-level teacher and during their meeting, students entering first through eighth grade may take a reading and a math assessment. The assessments are short tests that provide the school with learning data. The tests are computer adaptive, which means they adjust to each answer the student provides. This helps the school to get the best data about your child’s current levels of functioning. Students entering transitional kindergarten or kindergarten will be asked to demonstrate readiness skills in a one to one setting with school personnel.
- A child may be admitted to Transitional Kindergarten who is 4 years of age on or before September 1st of the current year; these children do not yet meet the age requirement or the social and/or academic requirements for the school’s Kindergarten program.
- A child may be admitted to Kindergarten who is 5 years of age on or before September 1st of the current year; applicants must be developmentally ready, which shall be determined through appropriate screening.
- A child may be admitted into the first grade who is 6 years of age on or before September 1st of the current school year.
